I had a stick of CareFree gum, but it didn’t work. I felt pretty good while I was blowing that bubble, but as soon as the gum lost its flavor, I was back to pondering my mortality.

Captain’s Log Supplemental          Stardate: 1023.06

Met with Ambassador O’Brien today.  He introduced me to a local dish called Taco de Cabeza. Which, loosely translated means, YUCK.   My understanding of his explanation goes something like this.  A goat (some local quadruped) is sacrificed and the cheeks of this creature are then sliced, diced, and cooked until tender.  The resulting brew is then tossed onto a thin, flat, round bread and served with twice cooked legumes.  The experience was, to say the most, interesting.  I brought a sample of this concoction back to the Anaglyph for Cmdr. Lucky to analyze.  Her report was short but decisive.

One of the oldest human needs is having someone to wonder where you are when you don’t come home at night.

Stardate: 1023.06
We have settled into the Tucson Quadrant of the Arizona Sector.

I took the Orion to the Tombstone quadrant this weekend.  I found there remnants of a primitive civilization.  The inhabitants of this quaint little quadrant continue to live as their ancestors did.  They use other life forms for their mode of transportation

and settle their disputes in a violent manner.

The difficulty with this conversation is that it’s very different from most of the ones I’ve had of late. Which… have mostly been with trees.

Captain’s Log 1018.06 We arrived at Tucson Quadrant and made our initial contact with Ambassador O’Brien. His reception was more than we deserved.  After preliminary negotiations were concluded he entertained us at some of the local establishments. As I stated earlier I will update our exploration of the White Sands Quadrant. An away team of Smee, Parkling Kathy Denton,  Parkling Anette Dunshee and myself went to the source of the white sands;  Lake Lucero; a usually dry lake bed that, at the time, was just the opposite.  While there we encountered a number of flying creatures that exhibited a penchant for aerial acrobatics. As I have observed before, Cmdr. Lucky and Lt. Stitch seem a little “ham handed” when dealing with these delicate life forms, and so were left aboard the Anaglyph.

I may not have gone where I intended to go, but I think I have ended up where I intended to be.

Stardate 1013.06

Smee has left on shore leave and is expected back aboard the Anaglyph on Stardate 1111.06. The crew and I bid him a fond farewell as he boarded the freighter for Starfleet and then home to his family.  We will miss him.

Our time at the White Sands Quadrant was extremely enjoyable; not only due to the beauty of this sector

but the hospitality of the “Parklings” was also beyond compare. The Parklings of white sands are a friendly race; very helpful and accommodating.  However you must be very careful not to break any taboos or mores as they can become highly aggressive and dangerous. One parkling we grew very fond of was Chief Ranger Kathy Denton.; a strong and well-respected member of her community.  She was guide and mentor throughout our stay.Another parkling we will miss is The Dunshee. Her position was “Disseminator of Knowledge”.  She beguiled us with food and highly intelligent conversation. Her mate, the Main Dunshee, treated us to a secret potion  made from something like our cherries.  (He made additional samples of this potion available to us for futher analysis.  I look forward to reviewing the results of our study.) On Stardate 1011.06 we were invaded by a rodent-like life form with beady little eyes and sharp pointy teeth.  The creature was first observed by Commodore Smee. I immediately sounded the intruder alert.  Cmdr. Lucky and Lt. Stitch subdued the creature almost instantaneously.(Cmdr. Lucky wanted to keep it for analysis however I was concerned that detaining the creature would not only violate the Prime Directive but also break some taboo of the parklings.  I, therefore, released the creature on it’s own recognizance.) Tomorrow Lt. Stitch will lay in a course for the Tucson Quadrant in the Arizona Sector.  Upon our arrival we will make contact with Ambassador O’Brien.  He will brief us on the condition of our diplomatic relations in that sector and further advise us on possible areas of exploration.

Fry out.
